Our adoption policy is fairly simple & straightforward, you will get any & all of the vet records I have for your new furkid, I will be there to support you for the life of the animal & I will always take them back. Although our adoption application may seem very long it is to ensure that we find the purrfect fit for you & for them so there's less chance of one returning & you can both live a long, happy healthy life together. I will also be doing courtesy postings as well but the animal must be fixed, chipped & UTD on all shots, as well as personally temperment tested by myself or a trainer. Please note all adoptions contracts will be enforced to the fullest extent of all applicable laws & I keep track of all my adoptees to make sure they are having the kind of life they deserve. Please do not be intimidated by our adoption application, it is long & irritating but it is for a reason. It is not to "Judge" you with, & if you read any of the info on this site you will notice that I have made my fair share of mistakes when I was a new pet owner so please just relax, answer honestly & we will do our best to get the right dog or cat for you. It is because of the mistakes that I made that I got into rescue, as well as seeing all the scams & heartache going on around us daily

Everybody loves a puppy... but are you ready for all the work & money that goes into them? Around Christmas & Summer break people seem to be smitten with puppy kisses & cuteness & rush to get one as a gift or for themselves: By the end of January or in the fall, we in rescue & at the local shelters are scrambling to pick up the "mess" of hundreds of unwanted Christmas/Summer pets. Having a pet can be very expensive, the smaller the dog the more it seems to cost, even if your pet never gets sick a day in their life, there are vaccines, spay, neuter, microchips, crates, bedding, toys, food, treats, & regular vet visits. I get lots of questions as to why our fees re so high for certain animals & why I offer discounts to veteran's disabled & elderly people. In order to get one dog ready for adoption it may cost me between 175.00 to 800.00 sometimes even more. The dog 9 times out of 10 has to be fixed, microchipped, given flea treatments, dewormed, sometimes they need dental, grooming, medication for various ailments to get them back up to par, as many dogs have been neglected, then we also have to pay our vet, along with that they most times need to be vaccinated. So if I'm only putting 175 to 250 into them I'm getting off pretty good. Which leads me to the next question I get all the time: Why is your adoption application so long & what does my criminal background have to do with anything. It is what it is to give me a feel for your lifestyle, your surroundings, & your history. You might want a Great Dane but if you live on the 3rd story of an apt in downtown that may not be a good idea, you may want a standard poodle for your children, but the one I have may be terrified of children. Every dog has it's own unique personality, likes & dislikes just like anyone else. Just because you think something is "cute" doesn't mean it's a good fit for you. (Ask many a divorcee!) As to your criminal background, that shouldn't even be a question, if you have violent offenses, then you are statistically 90% more likely to abuse an animal, if you have a pattern of domestic violence either as the abuser or the victim you can not control your impulses, or you can not protect yourself & most of all dogs that are murdered are murdered in domestic violence situations. So after all this lets factor in economics: I don't get funding or grants, only the very rare donation from time to time, so the money you spend goes to helping 1 to 3 other animals in my care, so in essence your dog becomes a doggie Hero to up to 3 others. When I do get a puppy or a high demand dog I do charge a higher fee & rest assured it all goes back into the dogs. A lot of times people are hesitant to pay fees ranging from 125 to 375 & I will ask them to pay it directly to my vet & they do so willingly. I realize in this day & age there are so many scams & people don't seem to be trust-worthy, but you can ask me any question & I will answer it to the best of my ability to help put your mind at ease. On to Senior's Veteran's & Disabled rates... Have you seen the size of a social security check or a VA pension fund? People who've worked hard their whole lives, or served this country & they can't even afford a simple day trip, it is a proven fact that animals can add quality years to someone in those circumstances, reduce medical costs & reduce blood pressure, especially in the case where a person has just lost a spouse, sometimes it literally can mean the difference between life & death. After my Great Grandfather died I watched my great grandmother almost die til we gave her a little Jack Russel Terrier, they both went on to live another 12 glorious years & died with 2 days of each other just recently...
