Only 2 out of every 10 dogs born ever finds a forever home

Only 1 out of every 30 cats taken to a shelter are adopted

Thousands of dogs are euthanized every day... literally 2 every second, of every day

Dogs given away for free or unaltered are usually used for bait dogs, or abandoned... The dog here is Nikko, he was a free dog who ears were butchered & he was used for a bait dog & left tied to a pole almost dead. What you see here is him grieving for the piece of crap who treated him this way...

Do NOT look away from these pictures, this is what you are subjecting your loyal faithful loving dog or cat to when you won't take the time to make sure they are in a good home. I see this everyday, it is my reality, it is their suffering & a careless owner's mess that I must  clean up every day.

Dumping your dog in a "nice" neighborhood doesn't mean they will get taken in, the nicer the neighborhood the less likely they are going to be taking in the mutt you just dumped, the reality is that IF they survive they will most likely end up getting pregnant to have a litter of pups who will most likely die before they are a month old. All of the pups pictured here were hit & killed by trains or died of disease, it is unknown what happened to the mother... she was merely a "photo op"

FIVE MINUTES TO 72 HOURS... That is how long a dog survives at most shelters: If they are a stray they are usually held for 72 hours before they are destroyed, if you turn them in & they are short on space they will take them directly to the back & euthanize them. If they make it past the 3 day hold & they show any behavioral problems from lack of training or lack of socialization or from sheer terror they will be immediately destroyed.

If they are a senior, a terrier mix or a black dog or cat, they don't stand a chance in hell. Please do the humane thing & take them to a vet to be put down so that they can die in your arms not on a cold steel table with a stranger, alone afraid & unloved.

Most city or county shelters are not a dog or cat's friend... I know this first hand. The dog pictured on the left had multiple injuries & was maced just like 14 other dogs that I pulled from this particular shelter. This shelter has "Breed Specific Legislation" (BSL) which means they kill everything they perceive to be a pit bull, staffie or mastiff mix. Municipal shelters are there only to warehouse the animals so they are not running in the streets or causing a health or safety concern, they make far more money by higher numbers of euthanasia then by adoption. They must pay for vetting for adoption but the more they kill the worse they can say the problem is & the more money they can ask for, simple as that.

YOU DIDN'T EVEN SAY GOODBYE.

"Woof!" I said as you started the car,
"Hooray!" I said, it's my first time afar.
The scents we were passing were all new to me,
For it was my first introduction to this mystery.

As we got out of the car I embraced you with joy,

After all you remembered to bring my favorite toy!
You threw it once or twice, of which I retrieved,
But on the third it seemed you were ready to leave.

You threw it long and hard and I chased it like lightning,

But when I turned to bring it back I saw a sight quite frightening.
I gripped my toy hard as I tried to comprehend
What it was I did wrong to make our relationship end.
You walked back to your car as I sat there still loyal.
Why am I subservient and you so royal?
Your engine started, and you peeled out into the night,
You didn't even care about my overwhelming fright.

As I sat in my pose determined you would come back,

The sun faded behind me while the surroundings turned black.
Day after day I stayed in that park,
Lying... waiting... too feeble to bark.

As I lay there dying thinking of you master,

I asked myself how I got into this horrifying disaster.
With my last breath of life, I whispered your name
Then I collapsed in a heap overrun by pain.

Why didn't you love me master? Why didn't you care?

Had I no significance, was I just a clump of hair?
I stayed there master and I waited for you
I guess taking care of me was just too much to do.

I'm gone now master, no more You-and-I

But what I can't figure out is why you didn't even say goodbye...
